Among those presenting the awards hosted by BBC news anchor Samantha Simmonds, were Sarah Olney Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Business and MP for Richmond Park; the Malaysian High Commission, High Commissioner, His Excellency Dato’ Zakri Jaafar; Rushanara Ali, MP for Bethnal Green and Stepney; and Anisa Khan Brand Ambassador for the Asian Catering Federation, owner of Bombay Pizza and runner-up in the BBC’s The Apprentice in 2025.
In addition to the 100 restaurants recognised at this year’s event, special recognition also went to Leylaty Events for National Excellence in Hospitality and Events recognising the significant impact, that they have made to shaping experiences at scale and setting new standards across the industry; and Muhammad Sultan owner of Charcoals restaurant in Glasgow, who received special recognition for his Outstanding Contribution and Services to Charity and Community. This individual award recognises Muhammad Sultan’s dedication and commitment to make a meaningful difference beyond the industry. Through sustained effort and clear commitment to giving back, Muhammad Sultan has supported communities, championed important causes and demonstrated the true spirit of leadership and responsibility.
Welcoming the guests, members and parliamentarians at this year’s event, Yawar Khan, Chair of the Asian Catering Federation said: “This event is about celebrating excellence across the hospitality sector, putting the diverse Asian community on one platform, and recognising chefs, restaurants, and industry leaders who continue to set the benchmark for quality, innovation and consistency across the Asian food industry in the UK.
“Over the past year, the sector has continued to navigate rising costs, evolving consumer expectations, and ongoing economic pressures. Yet, despite all this, they remain resilient, continuously adapting, innovating, and finding new ways to connect with their customers. They are investing in their teams, embracing new ideas, and continuing to deliver exceptional dining experiences day in, day out. Congratulations to everyone who is included in this year’s Guide, you have all earnt your place through passion for our industry, and for working hard to maintain exceptional high standards – well done.”
In her speech, Sarah Olney Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Business and MP for Richmond Park thanked the members present for their contribution to British industry, society and economy, adding: “This is such an important industry and you are right at the heart of British culture, leisure and hospitality in every corner of the UK.”
Anisa Khan, Business Owner and Brand Ambassador for the Asian Catering Federation commented: “Curry has long been an integral part of the UK dining scene, and today there are nearly 10,000 curry restaurants in the UK, with at least one to be found on every high street.
The Asian restaurant industry has long been a cornerstone of British dining. It has shaped tastes, brought communities together, and created spaces where culture, heritage, and modern creativity come together.
However, this industry is not just about food. It is about people. It is about community. It is about creating experiences that stay with us long after we leave the table.”
Therefore, inclusion in the top 100 is an incredibly prestigious ranking for all the Asian restaurants in this year’s list and one that should make them feel exceptionally proud.”

Asian Catering Federation
The Asian Catering Federation (ACF), which represents the nation’s 35,000 Asian and Oriental restaurants organises the only awards open to all Asian cuisines including: Bangladeshi, Burmese, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Middle Eastern, Pakistani, Singaporean, Sri Lankan, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese.
The ACF strives to deliver real returns for its members within the Asian catering industry, helping them to find financial success, achieve excellence, and build customer loyalty. It aims to unite Asian caterers on one platform and works closely with the Federation of Bangladeshi Caterers UK, the Chinese Takeaway Association UK, and the Malaysian Restaurant Association. The Federation campaigns for greater recognition for the sector, and works to achieve its members’ common goals through partnerships with government and other organisations; providing help with training, and creating rewarding careers in Asian catering.
The sector employs over 100,000 people and contributes more than £7.5 billion to the UK economy.
